Enhancing food security: Residents of Teso North, Busia county were treated to goodies after the Adopt A Generation Africa organisation donated maize seeds for this planting season.
The organisation's founder Cornelius Omuse said the 6-year project is aimed at reducing poverty levels and increasing food production in the region.
"We thought of a better way to empower the community and this is what we saw best. Instead of waiting during hunger to donate a packet of flour, it's better we provide these seeds and educate locals on how to maximize the farm produce," Omuse said.
"It's a challenge to our leaders too, we can teach the electorate how to fish without giving them fish. The handouts will not offer any lasting solution," he added.
